In an age where print media is falling victim to blogs, twitters, facebooks, second lifes, and rss feeds, few would dispute that the creation of a website is so ten years ago. While in Burkina Faso, I was given the opportunity to assist in creating a quarterly newsletter for my fellow volunteers. It was light-hearted in nature, with the underlying goal of forcing a smile on readers’ faces. Because as any Peace Corps volunteer will attest, a good laugh is a precious commodity. Like a month old issue of Newsweek.
It was in this spirit that three Peace Corps colleagues (Markus, Brooks, Jill) and myself (Joel) decided to embark on a odyssey of satirical proportions. The result? The Garlic Press. Because the only thing better than the real news is the fake news.
So check it out. Then tell your friends, your family, your co-workers, your ex-boyfriends, and your financial adviser. It’s the hottest thing to hit the web since edible HTML.
